Did football come from rugby?
Casper Redmond Jul. 19 0Contrary to popular belief, football did not originate from rugby. While both sports have a common ancestor, they developed into separate games in the mid-19th century. Football came from a variety of games played in the UK, which involved kicking a ball. Rugby, on the other hand, was born at Rugby School when a student, during a game of football, picked up the ball and ran with it. So, the two sports are more like distant cousins, rather than one being the parent of the other.
